Frequently asked questions

What weather should I expect, and what should I bring?

Latvia’s hunting season includes late summer, when temperatures are often above +15°C and light, breathable clothing is suitable, as well as autumn and winter months, when average temperatures range from +10°C to -10°C, and in some periods can drop as low as -20°C. In these conditions, we recommend bringing weather-appropriate waterproof outerwear, warm thermal layers, gloves, a hat, and warm footwear with good grip.

Which documents do I need to provide?

Foreign hunters need to provide a valid passport or ID card, a hunting licence/certificate, and a firearm permit from their home country. All documents are coordinated and verified before the hunt begins. We will arrange the permit to hunt in Latvia and any other permits required in Latvia.

How do I get a hunting license and weapon permit for hunting in Latvia?

To hunt in Latvia as a foreign citizen, you need a valid hunting license from your home country and a European Firearms Pass (for EU citizens) or an official state police permit (for non-EU citizens). Hunters Tribe handles the entire administrative process, securing your official Latvian hunting permit and managing legal firearm import or premium rifle rentals.

How do I get from the airport to the hunting area?

The main arrival point in Latvia is Riga Airport (RIX). From there, transport to the hunting areas takes 1-3 hours, depending on the selected area. Transfer services are provided.

How many people can be in one driven-hunt group?

The optimal group size for one driven-hunt group is 10-25 hunters to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality hunt.

How are individual hunts organised?

Individual hunts are organised twice a day - early in the morning and in the evening, when animals are most active. Hunting is possible both from a stand and by approach (stalking). Each hunter is provided with a professional guide who ensures safety and the quality of the hunting process.

How do you handle trophy preparation and international shipping?

We provide expert, first-stage trophy preparation in the field, including professional skinning, boiling, and bleaching of skulls according to CIC standards. For international shipping, we arrange all necessary veterinary certificates and work with trusted taxidermy logistics partners to ensure your trophies safely reach your home country.

Can I rent a rifle in Latvia, or must I bring my own firearm?

You can absolutely rent a rifle. Hunters Tribe offers premium rifle rentals equipped with high-quality, zeroed-in optics suitable for both stalking and driven hunts. If you prefer to bring your own firearm, we will guide you through getting the official Latvian weapon permit using your European Firearms Pass.

What happens to the game meat after a successful hunt?

In Latvia, wildlife conservation laws dictate that the game meat belongs to the local hunting grounds or the land owner. However, during your stay, you will experience the finest local wild game cuisine prepared by our private chefs using fresh, organic venison, wild boar, and moose from our successful hunts.

What happens if I do not harvest an animal during my trip?

While our territories boast exceptionally high game densities and an over 90% success rate due to strict wildlife management, hunting remains a true wilderness challenge. If you do not harvest an animal, you are only responsible for the Full-Service Daily Rate. You never pay a trophy fee for an animal that was not successfully taken or wounded.
